Job summary

Meridell Achievement Center is seeking a Director of Support Services to lead maintenance, repairs, and preventive activities across a 134-bed facility serving youths. This role ensures Life Safety, OSHA compliance, and efficient operations for building systems, utilities, and grounds.

The position emphasizes supervision, planning, and collaboration with hospital leadership to maintain a therapeutic environment while meeting regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in facility management or related field preferred; or equivalent in related experience.
  • 3–5 years of related experience, with at least 1 year in management.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation, blueprints, Life Safety Code, OSHA, Title 22/24.

Responsibilities

  • Assure safe and efficient operation of buildings, equipment & grounds.
  • Perform skilled maintenance/repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Complete maintenance paperwork and track work orders.
  • Oversee day-to-day tasks of the maintenance team and provide direction.
  • Provide training to new maintenance staff.

Responsibilities

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

Your Impact

The Director of Support Services performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, test and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties, provides planning and supervision for preventive maintenance activities and labor to accomplish those tasks including but not limited to Life Safety, Environment of Care for patient areas and associated inspections and record keeping for those tasks.

Qualifications

Education: Degree in facility management or related field preferred; or equivalent in related experience.

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years related experience, at least one year of management experience, and thorough knowledge and experience with Joint Commission accreditation, reading blueprints and understand Life Safety Code and OSHA Regulations along with Title 22 and Title 24 knowledge.

  • Assures the safe and efficient operation of buildings, equipment & grounds through provision of skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties.
  • Perform Skilled maintenance/repair and preventative maintenance on all buildings and equipment.
  • Assures necessary maintenance paperwork related to work orders, preventative maintenance items, and purchase orders are completed and returned promptly in accordance with facility expectations.
  • Oversee day to day tasks of maintenance team and provides work direction as needed.
  • Provides training to newly hired maintenance staff.
  • Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations and Safety/Risk Management plans, policies and procedures.
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
