Job summary

Meridell Achievement Center, a 134-bed psychiatric residential treatment facility located near Austin, seeks a Director of Support Services to lead maintenance, repairs and preventive tasks across the campus. You will supervise a maintenance team, coordinate Life Safety and OSHA-related activities, and ensure compliance with facility standards and Joint Commission accreditation.

The role emphasizes planning, supervising preventive maintenance, and managing labor for Life Safety and Environment

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in facility management or related field preferred; or equivalent in related experience.
  • Experience: 3–5 years related experience, at least one year of management, knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation, reading blueprints, and Life Safety Code and OSHA Regulations; Title 22/24 knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of buildings, equipment and grounds through skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties.
  • Perform skilled maintenance/repair and preventive maintenance on all buildings and equipment.
  • Complete maintenance paperwork and ensure timely return of work orders and PM items.
  • Oversee day-to-day tasks of maintenance team and provide direction as needed.
  • Provide training to newly hired maintenance staff.
  • Comply with infection control measures, OSHA regulations and Safety/Risk Management policies.
  • Attend mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

Your Impact

The Director of Support Services performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, test and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties, provides planning and supervision for preventive maintenance activities and labor to accomplish those tasks including but not limited to Life Safety, Environment of Care for patient areas and associated inspections and record keeping for those tasks.
