Job summary

Alliance Health Center in Meridian, Mississippi, a 154-bed acute care psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital, seeks a Medical Records Director to plan and manage the department in compliance with regulatory requirements and to ensure complete and accurate records for reimbursement and continuity of care.

The role requires supervisory HIM experience, a HIM degree, and RHIA credentials preferred, with knowledge of confidentiality laws and health information systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management preferred; AS/RHIT.
  • 2 years supervisory experience in Health Information Management.
  • RHIA credentials preferred; knowledge of HIM and health care delivery systems, confidentiality and release of information laws, leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the Medical Records Department in compliance with hospital, state, federal and accrediting regulations.
  • Analyze the quality of medical records to ensure inclusion and completion of required information for reimbursement and patient care continuity.
  • Provide expert consultative services to hospital staff regarding medical records.

Located in Meridian, Mississippi, Alliance Health Center is a 154-bed acute care psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital. The facility offers treatment programs for adults and adolescents and has a unique program track specifically for seniors. The Alliance campus is also home to The Crossings, a 60-bed residential treatment facility for adolescents.

Responsibilities

Located in Meridian, Mississippi, Alliance Health Center is a 154-bed acute care psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital. The facility offers treatment programs for adults and adolescents and has a unique program track specifically for seniors. The Alliance campus is also home to The Crossings, a 60-bed residential treatment facility for adolescents. For over 40 years, Alliance has been dedicated to serving individuals with acute mental and behavioral health disorders and addiction issues across the state of Mississippi and Alabama. Specific programs are provided for patients according to their diagnosis and age. Our behavioral health programs are offered to all ages from adolescents to seniors. Detoxification, dual diagnosis and New Leaf Recovery are offered to individuals ages 18 and up. We have a full spectrum of addiction services, from detoxification to our 30-day New Leaf Recovery program. We also offer dual diagnosis programming for those with mental illness and substance abuse. The Medical Records Director plans and manages the activities of the department in compliance with hospital, state, federal and other accrediting and regulating agency requirements. The Director of Medical Records analyzes the quality of the medical records to ensure inclusion and completion of required information needed to facilitate reimbursement and assure continuity of patient care and provides expert consultative services to hospital staff regarding medical records. The Medical Records Director functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Alliance Health Center.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management preferred; AS/RHIT. Experience: 2 years supervisory experience in Health Information Management field. Prior experience in a psychiatric mental health setting preferred. Licensure/Certification: RHIA Registered Health Information Administrator credentials preferred. Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of health information management and health care delivery systems, medical and psychiatric terminology, confidentiality and release of information laws, leadership skills and various computer and word processing programs.
