Job summary

UCLA Health’s Santa Monica Hospital is seeking an Assistant Food Services Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of the Dining Commons. You will assist with staff hiring, training, supervising, and schedule tracking to ensure smooth operations and high guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities include managing food waste, portion control, policy compliance, and responding to customer feedback. This is a limited 3-month appointment that may convert to a career.

Qualifications

• Valid ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (ANSI Accredited).
• Minimum 1 year of food service experience.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and effectively.
• Proficient in restaurant functions: planning, purchasing, sanitation, reporting, etc.
• Knowledge of policies outlined by JCAHO, HACCP, University, and Hospital standards.

Responsibilities

• Participate in hiring process and training of new staff.
• Supervise staff and monitor performance.
• Track employee schedules and performance.
• Address customer feedback and suggestions.
• Monitor food waste and control portions; ensure positive guest experiences.
