Job summary

UCLA Health's Santa Monica Hospital is seeking an Assistant Food Services Manager to join the Department of Nutrition. You will assist with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Dining Commons.

Primary duties include hiring and training staff, supervising, scheduling, responding to customer feedback, tracking waste, and ensuring compliance with standards. This is a limited appointment that may convert to career.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of food service experience.
• Valid ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (ANSI accredited).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and effectively.
• Knowledge of restaurant operations: food planning, purchasing, sanitation, and recordkeeping.
• Familiarity with JCAHO, HACCP, hospital policies and standards.
• Ability to supervise, mentor, and lead staff.
• Strong computer skills to operate food management systems.
• Ability to set priorities and organize workflow to meet deadlines.
• Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Participating in the hiring process and training of new staff.
• Supervising staff and managing day-to-day operations.
• Tracking employee schedules and performance.
• Investigating and responding to customer feedback and suggestions.
• Tracking food waste and monitoring portion control.
• Ensuring guests have a positive experience.
• Ensuring compliance with standards, policies, laws, and ordinances.
• Other supervisory duties as assigned.
