POSITION DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Assistant Director of Dining
LOCATION:
Winchester, VA Campus/Community
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
All Front of House (FOH) Dining Services including three different dining areas.
JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinates and directs all areas of front Dining Services, with intense focus on providing quality and service standards in these main areas for residents within this continuing care community. Includes management of employees, monitoring all dining areas, and acting as communications point for Dining Services Department to maintain operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSURE:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience required.
- A minimum of five years of management or supervisory experience required.
- Restaurant/Hotel dining experience and catering experience preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of wine and bar service is preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS, STANDARDS, AND COMPLIANCE:
- Support the Mission and purpose of Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury (SVWC). Perform duties in a manner consistent with SVWC's mission and vision.
- Follows and supports the policies and procedures established by SVWC and supports Board of Trustees and Administration.
- Present a professional, supportive, and caring image towards residents, visitors, and fellow team members.
- Must comply with all required employment training and annual TB Screening as required by Virginia State Licensure.
- Must complete annual mandatory compliance training required by Virginia State Licensure and all other mandatory documentation required by other regulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for a high-quality dining experience in all areas of front dining available to residents within the community.
- Ensure the food quality and presentation, with attention to detail, are being properly executed.
- Serve as a liaison between the residents and dining team members as well as other dining management teams, ensuring satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly.
- Ensure employees complete HACCP logs and cooler logs.
- Responsible for Point of Sale (POS) systems and other dining technology.
- Monthly comment card tracking andoverseeing follow up based on feedback provided by the residents.
- Manage day-to-day dining requirements as needed to provide best service.
- Monitor and initiate work orders in a timely manner required to keep the dining area safe and clean.
- Enforce food safety standards, maintain clean and safe dining environments, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- All Dining Services employees will report directly to this position.
- Responsible for interviewing candidates for open positions.
- Responsible for onboarding and training new employees within this area.
- All other supervisory responsibilities including disciplinary actions, performance reviews, scheduling, and other tasks to manage the team effectively.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver equipment, carts, stretchers, and similar items.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform repetitive lifting of up to 10 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and use of hands for fine motor tasks.
- Sufficient mobility and manual dexterity to safely perform assigned duties.
- Must be able to use, operate and interpret information form equipment in work area.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- May be required to work overtime, rotating shifts, or on-call schedules.
- May interact with verbally or physically combative residents.
- Must properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to OSHA and organizational safety standards.
- The duties of this position do not involve reasonably anticipated exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Exposure is not expected as part of normal job responsibilities. In the event of an unexpected exposure incident, employees are required to follow established Universal Precautions and reporting procedures.
