Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Danville, VA is seeking a Dining Services Director to lead the community's signature dining program. You will provide friendly, responsive service and ensure a safe, nutritionally balanced dining experience for residents, while upholding the company’s core values.

The role requires prior management in food service, English literacy, ability to work varied shifts, and a commitment to resident care.

Qualifications

• Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent.
• Previous management experience in the food service industry.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
• Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances throughout the day. Ability to tolerate heat from the kitchen.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a sanitary manner.
• Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets per menu and doctors' orders.
• Maintain food quantity and schedule adherence.
• Prepare food for special events as instructed by leadership.
• Maintain costs within budgeted parameters.
• Taste and ensure quality and palatability of prepared food.
• Record temperatures and maintain proper food temperatures.
• Report equipment issues to leadership.
• Make recipe/production improvements to enhance quality.
• Attend workshops and trainings to stay current in health care food service.
• Lead and manage dining staff and schedules.
• Assist in scheduling department hours and tasks.
• Inspect dietary area for compliance with regulations.
• Develop inventory control procedures.
• Purchase food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Ensure 72-hour emergency food/water supply is maintained.
• Maintain resident care information confidentiality.
• Supervise and manage dining department associates.
