Bates College seeks a Commons Associate - Service to support its dining program, serving roughly 5,000 meals daily. The role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and customer service while interacting with a diverse campus community.

Responsibilities include assisting on food platforms, supervising beverage stations, cashiering, and teamwork across Dining and campus units. A high school diploma and Serve Safe are preferred, with strong multitasking and time-management skills essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
• Serve Safe certification preferred.
• A valid Maine driver’s license preferred.
• Previous food service experience desired.
• Commitment to equity and inclusion, and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.
• Strong commitment to customer service.
• Exemplary organizational and time management skills are a must.
• Ability to multitask.
• Understands and thrives in a high volume food service environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists on the food platforms.
• Oversees beverage stations.
• Restocks the choices and cereal areas.
• Assists with cashiering.
• Assists with building duties, room set-ups, etc.
• Ensures that proper sanitation and safety standards are maintained.
• Promotes and values diversity and practices two-way communication.
• Develops an excellent working relationship with other areas of Dining and the institution.
• Maintains the highest levels of customer service practices at all times.
• Attends monthly Dining, Conferences and Campus Events town meetings and monthly sector meetings.
