Job summary

St. David's Medical Center in Austin, TX, is seeking a Dining Coordinator to manage the physicians dining room and doctor\'s lounge meals, assist with special functions, and ensure quality service.

The role requires at least 3 years in food service or catering, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a Food Handler Certification. You will work with the Food Production and DDR teams to maintain standards and safety.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Coordinates the entire meal process of Doctors Dining Room, which includes set‑ups, food deliveries, and general appearance. Also responsible for the Dr. Lounge and assisting with physician related functions.

General Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and provides the physicians dining room and doctor's lounge meal services.
  • Sets up at least 15‑30 minutes prior to opening the Dr. Dining Room and breaks down the food lines and cleans area after the meal period.
  • Prepares cold salads, salad bar, and desserts daily and assists with meal preparation as needed.
  • Assists with special functions as needed.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of china, cutlery, and glassware and requests additional supplies as par levels decrease.
  • Requisitions food items from the storeroom according to established procedures.
  • Follows recipe and menu rotations to assure availability of food and allocation of costs.
  • Recommends appropriate changes in recipes & forecasts to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Stocks designated dining room and lounge on a regular basis.
  • Makes garnishes for all food and serving lines according to the standards set for each item.
  • Maintains all departmental quality assurance standards in accordance to regulatory agencies.
  • Adheres to HACCP based food safety preparation and cooking procedures.
  • Checks food temperatures (cold/hot) on every item served to assure appropriate hot/cold temperatures are maintained.
  • Checks and records refrigerator temperatures in the dining room & work area daily.
  • Sanitizes equipment and work area prior, during, & after use. Completes designated equipment cleaning as assigned.
  • Communicates and cooperates with all other personnel of the department to achieve overall quality of service.
  • Informs Food Production Manager daily of food production issues and needs.
  • Informs Catering/DDR Manager of daily issues and concerns.
  • Furnishes adequate food items according to established times for the dining room.
  • Attends 90% of all departmental and facility meetings and all required in‑services.
  • Practices safety techniques.
  • Adheres to standard safety procedures in all aspects of the job.
  • Learns correct equipment operating procedures and reports malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
  • Responsible for careful and safe handling of all equipment, knives, pans, etc.
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
  • Ensures assigned duties are enthusiastically completed as designated.
  • Ensures completion of duties provides results at the level requested.

Experience Required

3 years experience in food service and/or catering.

Education Requirement
