Job summary

Ecumen in Worthington, IA is seeking a Part-Time Lead Dining Assistant to support dining services for residents. The role covers a 48-hour/2-week schedule from 10:00am to 6:30pm with an every-other-weekend rotation, directing staff in the absence of leadership.

Responsibilities include top-tier resident service, maintaining sanitary work areas, and ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures. Benefits include PTO for Sick & Safe time and access to an Employee Assistance Program.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
• Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: HIPAA, Resident’s Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, OSHA, HUD Policy and Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provides exemplary service to residents, families and guests with friendly and courteous service.
• Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe and organized work area with labeled, dated, rotated products.
• Performs opening and closing duties and routine cleaning tasks.
• Notifies supervisor of changes in residents’ health.
• Supervises dining assistants in absence or in support of Leadership Team.
• Responds to resident requests, concerns or complaints and notifies supervisor.
• Collaborates with team in a demanding environment and supports community staff.
• Oversees kitchen cleaning tasks and reports broken equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Dining Assistant Lead is responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving and cleanup. This position maintains work area in proper order and follows established policies and procedures of the facility while demonstrating high levels of service. This position is also responsible for directing staff in the absence or in support of the Leadership Team.

Pay:

The targeted pay range for this job is $17.50 - $20.50 per hour. Ecumen considers a variety of factors when determining new hire pay including experience, qualifications, and, when applicable, certifications, licenses, and education.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Provides exemplary service to our residents, families and guests, ensuring all feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service.
2. Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe and efficiently organized work area. Products will be labeled, dated and rotated ensuring an adequate, fresh inventory of food and supplies. Complies with all federal and state regulations.
3. Completes opening and closing duties. Accomplishes routine, daily and weekly cleaning responsibilities.
4. Notifies supervisor if any changes in residents’ personal health are observed.
5. Assists with the supervision of dining assistants in absence or in support of the Leadership Team.
6. Responds to resident requests and special requests, concerns or complaints and promptly notifies supervisor. Handles situations that require immediate attention within established boundaries.
7. Partners effectively with others in a demanding and changing environment, supports all team members within the community as directed by the leadership team.
8. Demonstrates respect for facility property and supplies. Oversees kitchen cleaning tasks. Reports broken equipment and may contact service vendors in emergency situations.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Must be 15 years of age or older
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
• Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident’s Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience leading others
• Previous food service experience
• Basic knowledge of food service
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment
• Previous senior care experience
• Serv Safe certified or equivalent
