Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Dimensional Systems Engineer to join our Warren Tech Center in a hybrid on-site role. You will drive dimensional strategy, lead cross-functional teams, and guide suppliers through complex tolerance and metrology challenges.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in dimensional engineering, strong GD&T expertise, and proven leadership across engineering, manufacturing, and quality domains. This role emphasizes collaboration and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in dimensional engineering or related areas.
• Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance allocation, datum structures and ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with automotive launches and supplier processes.
• Metrology, CMM/SCANNING systems and measurement planning.
• DFSS Green Belt or equivalent application.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead dimensional integration and reviews across vehicle subsystems.
• Define dimensional requirements for purchased components and document in SOR.
• Develop and approve virtual variation analyses using tools like 3DCS/ visVSA.
• Verify measurement-system capability and calibration processes.
• Evaluate complex supplier parts and assemblies for dimensional capability.
• Assess supplier processes affecting dimensional performance.
• Support supplier reviews, vehicle builds, and issue resolution.
• Correlate measurement data to identify systemic variation.
• Lead issue resolution during prototypes and production.
• Serve as GD&T SME and mentor cross-functional teams.
• Develop global dimensional methods, training, and standards.
• Maintain dimensional strategies and lessons learned.
• Improve dimensional capability, fit, and launch quality.
