RALLY is seeking a Senior Designer to craft compelling websites and digital experiences for organizations tackling pressing social and political issues. This hybrid role in San Francisco, CA combines end-to-end web design with a team culture that values strong UX fundamentals, accessibility, and design systems. You’ll help translate client brands, strategies, and content into clear, engaging experiences, while building reusable Figma libraries and supporting smooth developer handoff.
The work spans early exploration through high-fidelity execution, including wireframes, prototypes, supporting web graphics, and QA across devices and screen sizes. You will also contribute to website architecture and UX through sitemaps, navigation systems, user flows, and information hierarchy, ensuring designs are both thoughtful and implementable.
What you’ll do
- Design visually compelling, accessible website experiences using strong fundamentals in layout, typography, color, hierarchy, and visual accessibility.
- Create website designs from early visual exploration through high-fidelity execution, including page designs, wireframes, prototypes, and supporting graphics.
- Develop organized, scalable Figma files using components, Auto Layout, variables, shared styles, and reusable design systems.
- Produce prototypes and interaction examples to communicate functionality, responsive behavior, transitions, and web animation to clients and development teams.
- Prepare clear developer handoffs and collaborate through implementation, including QA across devices and screen sizes to preserve design intent.
- Contribute to website architecture and UX through sitemaps, navigation systems, wireframes, user flows, information hierarchy, and common interaction patterns.
- Design responsive experiences with practical understanding of HTML, CSS, browser behavior, breakpoints, flexible layouts, and common website integrations (production coding not required).
- Apply web accessibility best practices aligned to WCAG, including decisions across content hierarchy, interactions, forms, and focus states.
- Bring a foundational understanding of SEO, including metadata, semantic content structure, heading hierarchy, image alt text, internal linking, and how search engines interpret websites.
- Present design concepts and recommendations with clear communication, and respond thoughtfully to client and internal feedback.
- Collaborate with strategists, communicators, project managers, designers, developers, and other teams throughout the design and development process.
- Manage workflow across multiple projects by communicating progress, timing, questions, and blockers while balancing timelines, budgets, and scope.
- Support internal creative initiatives, including design and content updates for RALLY’s website.
- Stay current on evolving web design, UX, accessibility, and technology practices, contributing ideas and improvements to tools and processes.
What you bring
- 5-7 years of professional experience in web, digital, UI, or interactive design, with a strong portfolio showing polished website design, responsive thinking, and attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, including Auto Layout, components, variables, prototyping, design systems, and developer handoff.
- Strong understanding of responsive web design and working knowledge of HTML and CSS concepts (production-level coding not required).
- Strong UX fundamentals, including website architecture, sitemaps, navigation, wireframes, user flows, and information hierarchy.
- Working knowledge of web accessibility and WCAG principles, plus foundational knowledge of SEO and its relationship to structure and discoverability.
- Curiosity and openness to exploring AI tools to increase efficiency and improve quality.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for articulating design decisions and navigating feedback professionally.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills for managing concurrent work across interdisciplinary teams within established timelines and budgets.
- A proactive, detail-oriented, solutions-focused approach aligned with mission-driven work.

Hybrid workplace

Compensation
The starting salary range is $80,000-$90,000, with opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance and contributions to the team’s success.

- Experience with motion design, web animation, analytics, conversion optimization, performance, or technical SEO.
