Job summary

Johns Hopkins University invites a PREP Research Associate to support digital twin research for NIST PREP. You will work on Modelica modeling for a Building Digital Twin and expand models with Guideline 36 controllers, tuning parameters, and co-simulation workflows.

The role requires an undergraduate degree in CS or Engineering, plus experience with Buildings library and OpenModelica; MATLAB/Python skills preferred. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is expected.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in CS or Engineering.
  • Experience with Modelica using Buildings library.
  • OpenModelica preferred with FMUs and Python co-simulation.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB or Python; strong comms skills.
  • Master's or PhD in engineering or physics.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing models and understand their structure.
  • Identify parameters to tune for alignment with goals.
  • Modify or develop models as needed for tasks.
  • Add Guideline 36 controllers to the model.
  • Present results at internal and occasional external meetings.
  • Archive results, protocols, software and docs to the organization.
