Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative is building a digital twin of its power plant fleet to unify asset data, financials, and planning into one platform. You’ll lead data design and modeling, integrating telemetry, work management, and economics data to empower analysts and leadership with deep insights.

The role collaborates with PM, UX, and engineers on a cloud-first Azure stack, delivering a scalable, enterprise-grade analytics product that improves reliability and asset health across the Midwest.”

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with a strong foundation in data engineering, system design, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Proficiency with ETL/ELT frameworks, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud-based data platforms — especially Microsoft Azure (Storage Accounts, SQL Databases, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Data Lake, Delta Lake).
• Deep understanding of data architectures that power analytics and data science operations — including data modeling, star schemas, semantic layers, and decoupled system integration patterns.
• Build and evolve the high-level Databricks models that power the digital twin, combining financial, operational, and reliability data.
• Data visualization mastery: design dashboards and charts for clarity and density; knowledge of visualization best practices a plus.
• Programming with Python or similar to automate pipelines and guide data integration with UI.

Responsibilities

• Own the Data Design: architect lakehouse models and pipelines uniting telemetry with work management and financial data.
• Build the Digital Twin: design models integrating asset-level data to fleet-wide health and risk visuals.
• Fuse the Enterprise: integrate financial perspectives into reliability and lifecycle models.
• Build for the Users: design insights delivery for plant staff to executives to enable faster decisions.
• Ship! Ship! Ship!: turn data and visuals into a web app with high quality and usability.
