Position Summary

The Digital Marketing Strategist is a member of the Odum School’s communications team and reports to the Communications Director. This position plans and produces content for social media and other digital platforms, including managing the social media content calendar, drafting and editing copy and graphics, capturing photos and videos as needed, and supporting integrated marketing campaigns. The position oversees Odum School accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and Blue Sky) and River Basin Center (RBC) accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook), tracking and reporting analytics and assisting in setting benchmarks. This position will spend 80% time on Odum School and 20% time on RBC social media. This position collaborates with faculty, staff, students, alumni and campus partners to identify storytelling opportunities and translate complex academic programs, research and outreach activities into engaging communications. They will participate in ongoing content strategy sessions with communications team members and are expected to provide ideas and produce original content. There is room for growth in developing paid social media strategies to support School/Center initiatives, and this position will play a significant role in leading those efforts. Success in this role requires strong writing and storytelling skills, creativity, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to plan and execute digital communications that build engagement, highlight student experiences, and strengthen the Odum and RBC brands.

Duties/Responsibilities

Percentage of time 65

  • Develop and produce engaging, original, relevant, and high-quality content across digital platforms for the Odum School (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and Blue Sky) and River Basin Center (Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook)
  • Build and execute digital marketing campaigns, plan and schedule social media posts, monitor appropriate conversations, and engage with stakeholders in real time
  • Maintain a digital content calendar to strategically promote events, initiatives and goals for the School/Center
  • Provide on-site social media coverage of campus events and other storytelling opportunities
  • Evaluate and implement a variety of content formats—such as infographics, short-form videos, carousels, student-led digital takeovers and interactive storytelling—to optimize engagement and expand reach
  • Suggest and implement new ideas to enhance brand awareness and encourage audience participation

Percentage of time 20

  • Tag content, monitor engagement traffic, generate reports, evaluate analytics results, and make recommendations for future content and posts
  • Assist in establishing benchmarks and KPIs
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics to improve engagement and optimize ROI, using data insights to inform strategic adjustments
  • Translate content performance data into insights that guide content planning, format experimentation, and distribution strategy, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Use project management software (Asana) to input and track tasks

Percentage of time 10

  • Collaborate with communications team and Odum/RBC leadership to identify priorities, shape initiatives and align communications with strategic goals
  • Collaborate with Odum School’s multimedia professional on photo/video content for social media
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support School initiatives, developing strategies and creating/revising content as needed
  • Provide guidance on best practices

Percentage of time 5

  • Additional duties for various other digital marketing projects as assigned.
