Digital Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

The Digital Marketing and Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the mission and visibility of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES). As part of the CAES Office of Marketing and Communications, this position helps shape how audiences experience and engage with the college online, transforming narratives about research, teaching, and Extension into compelling digital content.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Creative, analytical thinker capable of translating data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency with SEO, GEO, and digital accessibility best practices.
  • Experience with major social media platforms and analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools such as MailChimp.
  • Experience with web management tools such as WordPress.
  • Proficiency with graphic design tools such as Canva.
  • Ability to evaluate content using tools like Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or Sprout Social.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Portfolio of quality writing and digital marketing samples.
Key Responsibilities

Digital Marketing and Newsletter Coordination

  • Plan, create, and deliver digital marketing campaigns—including web properties, paid search campaigns, email newsletters, etc.—to drive engagement and promote CAES research, instruction, and Extension.
  • Implement search engine and generative engine optimization best practices to ensure content is discoverable.
  • Develop and deliver engaging internal and external newsletters, maintaining audience lists, tracking performance, and implementing improvements.
  • Partner with creative and editorial units to support production of visual and written content resonating with modern audiences.
  • Write, edit, and adapt content for web, social media, email, and other digital channels with a focus on clarity and accessibility.
  • Support strategic campaign initiatives by identifying promotion opportunities and assisting with content creation, coordination, and reporting.
  • Assist the manager with campaign budget management, including tracking expenses and supporting accounting processes.

Social Media Coordination

  • Create and capture engaging social media content for CAES and UGA Extension channels.
  • Test and evaluate content formats such as infographics, short‑form videos, carousels, and interactive storytelling to optimize engagement.
  • Provide on‑site social media coverage of campus events and other storytelling opportunities.
  • Create and distribute social media toolkits to support college‑wide and UGA Extension content needs.
  • Assist OIT in coordinating efforts with UGA Extension Canva Ambassadors.
  • Support paid social media campaigns for programs, initiatives, and events.

Performance Tracking and Analysis

  • Assist in establishing benchmarks and defining KPIs that reflect CAES’s impact.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key performance metrics to improve engagement and optimize ROI.
  • Produce clear, actionable reports, including quarterly updates, annual summaries, leadership impact reports, and stakeholder reports.
  • Translate content performance data into insights to guide content planning and distribution strategy.

Training and Internal Communications

  • Create and deliver training to CAES and UGA Extension faculty and staff on digital marketing, SEO, content creation, and social media best practices.
  • Research emerging trends in SEO, generative engine optimization, social media, and higher education marketing; recommend and implement innovative strategies.
  • Represent the Office of Marketing and Communications on college‑ and campus‑wide committees as needed.
  • Perform additional duties on various digital marketing projects as assigned.
Physical Demands

Normal office work setting. Driving as necessary to fulfill job duties.
