Job summary

AARP seeks a Digital Marketing Manager in Washington, DC, to drive enterprise marketing technology adoption and marketing operations for email, app notifications, and SMS initiatives. This role leads change management, training, and communications across marketing platforms including AEM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketing Hub, and Amazon SES.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Information Systems or related field.
  • 2+ years of digital marketing, marketing operations, marketing technology, or related disciplines including email and/or SMS marketing operations or digital agency support.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale marketing technology implementations, transformations, or adoption initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise marketing platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketing Hub, Amazon SES, or similar solutions.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute communication, training, and enablement strategies that drive user adoption across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements communications and outreach strategies tailored for target audiences, digital channels, and strategic objectives.
  • Manages the organization's digital properties and optimizes online channels against KPIs with data-informed decisions.
  • Oversees content creation for digital platforms and documents strategies for campaigns across business units; analyzes performance and recommends improvements.
  • Develops and executes digital marketing strategies with internal/external teams to increase brand equity and engagement across programs.
  • Tracks KPIs, stays current with digital trends, and adjusts tactics to maximize results.

Digital Marketing Manager

leads enterprise marketing technology adoption and marketing operations for email, app notification and SMS initiatives that enhance customer engagement and organizational effectiveness. This role drives key elements of change management, stakeholder engagement, training, and communications strategies for these key marketing platforms, including AEM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketing Hub, and Amazon SES. Partnering across business, marketing, and technology teams, the manager ensures successful adoption, operational readiness, and governance while overseeing enterprise email marketing operations, agency partnerships, and execution standards to deliver business results.

Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements communications and outreach strategies tailored for target audiences, digital channels, and strategic objectives that inform, educate, and influence both internal and external audiences.
  • Manages the organization's digital properties. Supports and manages the overall strategic direction of organizational digital platforms. Optimizes online channels against key performance indicators and makes data-informed decisions.
  • Oversees content creation for various digital platforms. Leads efforts to identify and document strategies for campaigns, working with multiple business units. Provides analyses and recommendations on digital strategies that align with organizational initiatives and goals. Identify appropriate channels. Designs campaigns to meet specific and varied business unit objectives. Tracks performance and implements necessary changes.
  • Works with internal and external teams to develop and execute digital marketing strategies that increase organizational brand equity and build affinity and engagement among programs. Builds and manages strategic partnerships across the enterprise to enhance business unit effectiveness on digital and social channels.
  • Tracks and measure results and KPIs and adjusts tactics, accordingly. Keeps abreast of the latest digital trends and best practices to inform digital marketing strategies, as well as to aid internal knowledge sharing.
  • Provides exceptional client service by developing timelines to meet project commitments and ensuring deliverables from across the organization and external partners are on time.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal clients, ensuring a solid understanding of their objectives, developing plans to achieve them across channels (e.g., Email, SMS, Paid Search, etc.), proactively surfacing new opportunities, and productively resolving any challenges.
  • Identifies vendors best suited to advance organizational goals and proactively manage vendor relationships to ensure successful completion of projects, obligations, and expectations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Information Systems or other related field.
  • 2+ years experience in digital marketing, marketing operations, marketing technology, or related disciplines including experience in email, and/or SMS marketing operations or digital agency supporting email or SMS.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale marketing technology implementations, transformations, or adoption initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise marketing platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketing Hub, Amazon SES, or similar solutions.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute communication, training, and enablement strategies that drive user adoption and operational readiness across cross-functional teams.
Preferred
  • Experience managing enterprise email marketing operations, including governance, campaign execution standards, vendor/agency management, and performance oversight.
  • Formal training or certification in change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR) and/or project management frameworks.
  • Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization and influencing senior leaders, business stakeholders, and technology teams.
