Position Summary

The IT Portfolio Manager is responsible for driving business value through strategic technology investments, portfolio governance, and demand management. This role partners closely with business leaders to align technology initiatives with organizational objectives, oversee the delivery of high-performing solutions, optimize IT spending, and support digital transformation efforts. The position also provides leadership across portfolio planning, financial management, vendor relationships, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead demand management activities and ensure alignment of technology initiatives with business priorities, approved budgets, timelines, and resource plans.
• Manage and optimize the IT project portfolio, balancing strategic objectives, operational needs, risks, costs, and expected business outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, increase productivity, and maximize the value of technology investments.
• Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and align technology solutions with organizational goals.
• Support and influence digital transformation initiatives by establishing trusted relationships with business leaders and executive stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and development for portfolio management team members while overseeing budgets, KPIs, project portfolios, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with strategic technology partners and managed service providers to ensure effective service delivery and value realization.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, and Procurement teams to manage IT spending, ensure compliance, and identify cost optimization opportunities.
• Develop and maintain governance frameworks, project intake processes, portfolio planning practices, and annual budgeting activities.
• Evaluate and prioritize projects based on business value, resource availability, risk, and strategic alignment.
• Analyze vendor performance, contracts, and financial data to support sourcing decisions, contract negotiations, and reporting requirements.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, invoice management, and financial tracking activities related to the technology portfolio.
• Support the development and communication of technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy.
• Monitor portfolio health through dashboards and reporting, including budget, schedule, resource, risk, and benefit realization metrics.
• Collaborate across departments to provide accurate reporting on portfolio performance, expenditures, and business outcomes.
• Support governance, compliance, vendor management, KPI/OKR reporting, and portfolio performance measurement activities.
• Mentor project managers, Scrum Masters, and technology leaders to ensure portfolio decisions are successfully translated into project delivery plans.
• Prepare executive-level presentations and reports to communicate portfolio status, risks, achievements, and strategic recommendations.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation across portfolio management processes and practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, capital planning, procurement, or portfolio management.
• 2+ years of project or portfolio management experience within an IT environment.
• 2+ years of leadership or people management experience.
• Experience working with SAP.
• Advanced proficiency with Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, cost accounting, business case development, ROI analysis, and investment planning.
• Familiarity with PMI methodologies and Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience presenting financial, portfolio, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Understanding of IT organizational structures, project governance, and portfolio prioritization processes.
• Excellent communication, organizational, stakeholder management, and time management skills.
