Job summary

Mars Petcare is seeking a Digital Innovation Engineer in Columbus, OH to drive digital modernization of manufacturing processes. You will lead the implementation of MES, visualization tools, IoT devices, and data analytics to boost efficiency and quality across production lines.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years implementing digital solutions, a strong automation/data analytics background, and project management experience. Role requires English proficiency and on-site work.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand processes and identify digital transformation opportunities.
  • Develop implementation plans for MES, visualization software, and IoT solutions.
  • Evaluate and implement digital technologies such as sensors, automation systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Establish data collection and management processes for process optimization.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Coordinate with IT and engineering to ensure integration with existing systems.
  • Train associates on new digital/manufacturing processes.

Mars Petcare - Digital Innovation Engineer – Columbus, OH

Pay: Based on experience starting at $33.36/hour

Shift Schedule: 1st shift, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm (Flexible pending business needs).

Description of Role: The Digital Innovation Engineer role will play a crucial role in integrating digital technologies into our manufacturing processes. The position will be responsible for implementing and optimizing digital solutions to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality of consumer products.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education
  • 3+ years of experience in implementing digital solutions
  • Strong understanding of automation and data analytics
  • Experience in managing projects
  • Proficiency in software systems including MS Office and e‑mail
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
  • Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
  • Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Understanding of Weaver, PowerBI and Industry 4.0 concepts
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business processes and identify areas for digital transformation.
  • Develop comprehensive digital implementation plans aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices (MES, Visualization Software, etc.)
  • Evaluate, select, and implement digital technologies such as IoT devices, sensors, automation systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Establish robust data collection and management processes to gather insights for process optimization.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to analyze production data, identify trends, and make data‑driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of current digital systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing improvements.
  • Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to ensure the integration and compatibility of digital tools with existing infrastructure.
  • Train associates with new implementations regarding changes in digital or manufacturing processes relative to their role and responsibilities.
  • Any ad hoc requests as requested

Pay: Starting at $33.36/hour
