Job summary

The City of Bartow is seeking a Civilian Digital Evidence Specialist to manage digital evidence from police operations, ensuring proper intake, labeling, storage, and controlled release in compliance with Florida law. The role supports investigations and interagency requests while safeguarding sensitive material.

Responsibilities include redacting body-worn and in-car video, maintaining chain-of-custody, and preparing materials for court, depositions, and administrative hearings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associates degree preferred.
• Knowledge of Florida public records law Chapter 119 and GS2 retention schedules.
• Experience with Axon/Evidence.com and redaction software.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of digital evidence, including intake, classification, storage, and purging.
• Review, redact, and prepare BWC and in-car video footage for release in accordance with law.
• Maintain accuracy of case labeling and cross-reference with incident reports.
• Prepare digital evidence for court, depositions, and hearings.
• Assist with quality assurance reviews of program compliance and respond to public records requests.
