Job summary

The City of Eugene, through the Eugene Police Department, seeks a Police Evidence Specialist to manage evidence storage, property handling, and digital media processing. The role supports investigators, maintains chain of custody, and ensures lawful disposition of materials.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in a retail store or warehouse environment performing inventory related tasks.
• Police experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass a police background investigation and have a valid Oregon driver’s license.
• LEDS certification must be obtainable within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receives, inventories, stores and disposes of property and evidence.
• Ensures property and evidence are secure from theft, loss or contamination.
• Maintains accurate inventories and proper tagging of evidence and property.
• Transports evidence to laboratory and to owners when release is authorized.
• Operates and troubleshoots digital evidence systems and department computer networks.
• Provides professional interaction with the public and supports diversity in the workplace.
