Job summary

City of Albany Police Department seeks an organized Property & Evidence Specialist to receive, document, store, track, and dispose of evidence and found property while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires maintaining chain of custody, data entry, and proper handling of firearms and materials. Knowledge of records systems and attention to detail are essential for compliance and public safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Two years of general office administration, communications, or records management experience, including at least one year in a law enforcement setting.
• Preference may be given to bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive found property and evidence, document receipt and chain of custody.
• Operate and maintain computerized record system for evidence and property.
• Dispose of property per judicial and statutory rules.
• Maintain inventory of evidence room supplies.
• Provide training and backup to records clerk as needed.
• Represent the City with professional, courteous service.
