Job summary

City-of-Pelha seeks a highly qualified professional to manage and execute investigative evidence processing, preserving chain of custody, and lifecycle handling from seizure to disposition. The role requires detailed documentation, crime scene work, and collaboration with multiple city departments.

Responsibilities include fingerprint comparison, image documentation, and safeguarding electronic devices and records.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Criminology, Criminalistics, Law Enforcement, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Forensic Science, Homeland Security, Public Administration, Business Administration, Statistics or a closely related field is preferred, but not required.
• Two years’ full-time professional work experience or an advanced degree with at least one year’s full-time professional work experience.
• Experience with crime scene processing and evidence collection.

Responsibilities

• Collect, preserve, process and handle evidence at major crime scenes, death scenes, and investigations.
• Perform latent fingerprint searches and submit fingerprint comparisons for positive identifications.
• Document crime scenes through photography, sketches, diagrams, and other methods.
• Utilize appropriate methods and equipment for detection and collection of evidence.
• Plan, prepare for, and participate in property dispositions, including return, release, auction, and destruction.
• Maintain all records and ensure data integrity in the Evidence Vault and related systems.
