Are you ready to explore the world of aerospace and defense? Do you want to learn from and collaborate with some of the greatest minds in the industry? At RTX, our internships, co‑ops and full‑time careers provide an exceptional foundation to work on complex problems, advance your skills and create a safer, more connected world. Discover opportunities to make a difference at RTX. The Effector Digital Products (EDP) Department develops electronics for our weapon system products. We engage at the outset of the weapon system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our products are deployed all over the world, from the ground to exoatmospheric environments and into space. We are responsible for the architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable FPGA embedded processing at Raytheon. The Digital Design Engineer in the Effector Digital Products department designs digital electronic circuit cards and electronic units, which are supported from proposal through transition to production. Our systems are subject to environments ranging from the frigid, sub‑zero vacuum of space, to the blistering heat of the desert floor, to the high pressures of the ocean depths. We are seeking current college students willing to collaborate, innovate, and team with our engineers to generate and utilize today’s cutting‑edge technology to design digital electronic circuits that implement missile guidance, video and digital signal processing. Our technology base includes high‑speed digital electronics, configurable logic, and homogeneous / heterogeneous multiprocessor designs.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

What You Will Do:
  • Hardware Design: Writing, simulating, synthesizing, and verifying digital hardware design using hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog.
  • Implementing design solutions for FPGAs or ASICs, which may include high‑speed communication interfaces, signal processing, or control logic.
  • System Integration: Supporting the integration of digital designs with other subsystems, including analog electronics, software, and mechanical components, to ensure full system functionality.
  • Testing and Validation: Conducting testing and debugging of digital hardware in a laboratory setting using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and test benches.
  • Performing timing analysis, signal integrity analysis, and power analysis to ensure compliance with system requirements.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design requirements are met and the final product performs as intended.
  • Documentation and Process Adherence: Producing technical documentation, including design specifications, validation reports, and test procedures, to support the development lifecycle.
  • Following Raytheon's engineering standards, design processes, and rigorous quality assurance protocols.
  • Growth and Skill Development: Gaining experience with industry-leading tools and methodologies for digital design, simulation, and verification, such as Xilinx Vivado, Synopsys, ModelSim, or MATLAB.
  • Receiving mentorship and training to grow technical expertise and advance within the organization.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Coursework in one or more of the following areas: circuit design, digital electronics, lab course work, PCB design and signal integrity.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
