Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Digital/eCommerce Applications Test Lead to drive quality engineering across customer-facing web and mobile apps. You will own end-to-end testing strategy, collaborate with engineering, product, DevOps to ensure reliable digital experiences in hybrid work model with three days onsite in Irvine, CA.

You will build automation using Playwright/TypeScript, Appium, and Python for REST APIs, integrate tests into CI/CD, mentor QE teams, and report quality metrics to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software quality engineering experience.
• 2+ years leading or mentoring quality engineering professionals.
• Experience testing eCommerce web and mobile applications.
• Hands-on automation framework development with Playwright/TypeScript.
• REST API testing experience with modern tools.

About the role

As a Digital/eCommerce Applications Test Lead, you will make an impact by leading quality engineering across customer-facing eCommerce web and mobile applications. You will drive end-to-end testing and automation across critical digital journeys, including search, cart, checkout, payments, and order management. You will work collaboratively with engineering, product, DevOps, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality digital experiences.

In this role, you will:

• Own the end-to-end test strategy and release-readiness approach for eCommerce web and mobile applications, covering functional, regression, integration, cross-browser, and cross-device testing.
• Review business and technical requirements, develop test scenarios and test cases, and oversee execution across critical customer journeys including search, cart, checkout, payments, and order management.
• Build and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright with TypeScript for web applications, Appium for mobile applications, and Python-based tools for REST API testing, prioritizing automation for effective coverage and execution speed.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines as quality gates, manage test environments, analyze failures, and support defect triage in Linux-based environments.
• Lead and mentor quality engineering professionals, collaborate with development, product, and DevOps teams on defect resolution, and communicate quality metrics and risks to stakeholders.

What you need to have to be considered

• 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, including 2+ years leading or mentoring quality engineering professionals, with proven experience testing eCommerce web and mobile applications.
• Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks, including Playwright with TypeScript for web UI automation and Appium or similar tools for mobile application automation.
• Solid experience testing RESTful APIs using Postman, REST Assured, Python-based tools, or similar technologies, including validation of high-volume systems such as catalog, pricing, checkout, and order management.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD tools, such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions, along with Git, Jira, and Linux-based environments.
• Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, cross-browser, and cross-device testing, with demonstrated skills in defect triage, stakeholder communication, and quality reporting.

These will help you stand out

• Experience determining the right balance between manual and automated testing to improve quality, coverage, and release speed.
• Experience working in complex, high-volume digital commerce environments.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $81,337 to $120,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
