Job summary

The Washington Post invites college juniors, seniors and graduate students to join its flagship newsroom internship program in Washington, D.C. Interns report and write articles, edit copy, take photographs, shoot and edit video, create graphics, produce audio, design across platforms, develop audience strategy and perform data analyses.

You will work alongside award-winning journalists and are treated as staff members during the internship.

Qualifications

• Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline.
• Strong understanding of style, grammar and sentence structure, and ability to edit for clarity.
• Ability to work calmly under intense deadlines.
• Commitment to accuracy, clarity and journalistic rigor.

Responsibilities

• Edit stories across news, features and enterprise with accuracy, clarity, fairness and accessibility.
• Write and refine headlines, summaries and photo captions for digital audiences.
• Help program The Post's homepage and app, delivering a compelling reader experience across devices.
