Job summary

The Washington Post is seeking college juniors, seniors and graduate students for the newsroom’s flagship summer internship program. Interns will report and write articles, edit copy, take photographs, shoot and edit video, create graphics, produce audio, design on multiple platforms, and analyze data under the guidance of award-winning journalists.

Interns will be paid and treated as staff, with placement based in our Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Qualifications

• Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student enrolled by the application deadline.
• Deadline to apply is noon Eastern time on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.
• Position based out of Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Interns report and write articles, edit copy, take photos, shoot and edit video, create graphics, produce audio, design on multiple platforms, develop audience strategy and perform data analyses.
• Edit stories across news, features and enterprise with accuracy, clarity and fairness.
• Help program The Post’s homepage and app to deliver a compelling reader experience across devices.
