Job description

W magazine seeks an experienced Digital Designer who will help shape and innovate the digital look of the W brand. The Digital Designer will collaborate with the digital, editorial, visuals, and fashion teams to execute W’s strategy and vision across digital, video, and social media. The ideal candidate is passionate about emerging design trends in social media and emerging platforms to ensure that W remains at the forefront of compelling digital design. We are looking for a self-starter who takes initiative and can begin projects independently, and can work at a conceptual level while also being detail-oriented, managing multiple projects in a highly collaborative environment. This position reports to the Design Director and is part of a team of two designers.

This position is based in the New York office and requires a minimum of 3 days a week on-site.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development of digital assets, including website layouts, email templates, social media graphics, and other multimedia content on a daily basis, aligning with the overall aesthetics of the W brand.
  • Collaborate with the digital, visuals, editorial, fashion, production, and sales/marketing teams to transform ideas into vibrant, dynamic visuals.
  • Develop and refine design assets across social media, web, and video.
  • Adapt printed media assets across all digital platforms.
Requirements
  • An outstanding portfolio of projects.
  • Strong sense of typography and composition for both editorial design and digital design.
  • Extensive knowledge of the digital media landscape and emerging trends in fashion, design, film, art, media, and technology as relevant to the W brand. Deep knowledge of contemporary photography and illustration.
  • Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including a familiarity with motion graphics/video editing as well as a knowledge of Figma and other emerging digital tools. Experience with 3D design tools (Cinema 4D, Blender, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple work streams effectively. Some stories may require working outside of regular office hours.
  • Attention to detail and structure, and ability to maintain organized job files and deliverables.
  • Stay ahead of visual trends and techniques that can be applied to the evolving nature of digital design.
  • A team-oriented approach, with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to collaborate.
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in magazine design.

$60,000 - $65,000 a year
