Job summary

The State Courts System in Manatee County is seeking a Digital Court Recorder to monitor and annotate court proceedings from a central location using OpenCourt software for digital audio recording.

The role requires handling confidential information, multi-tasking in a team setting, and proficient use of Microsoft Office. Training will emphasize OpenCourt/CourtSmart operation and reliable playback services.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with one year of college or vocational school in office skills or closely related field.
  • Two years of legal experience; further education may substitute for the experience.
  • Strong knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to operate OpenCourt/CourtSmart and digital recording systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and annotate court proceedings to ensure complete, accurate recordings.
  • Test audio quality and report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Provide playback services and retrieve recorded hearings as needed.
  • Communicate with Judicial Assistants/Clerks via email, phone and software.
  • Maintain statistical data on recorded proceedings and media distribution.
