Description

The Eighth Judicial Circuit Court is seeking to fill a Digital Court Reporter position at the Bradford County Courthouse in Starke, Florida. This position is responsible for digitally recording and annotating court proceedings and hearings using the Open Court monitoring system; transcribing recordings; performing research; and processing requests for digitally recorded court proceedings. This is an in-office position and works under the direction of the Court Reporting Manager.

Functions, Responsibilities, Competencies

Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be resourceful, able to multi-task, and capable of prioritizing tasks assigned. Type a minimum of 55 words per minute. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Use judgment and discretion concerning confidential information. Able to monitor and annotate live or previously recorded court proceedings which requires sitting with headphones and reviewing computer monitor for extended periods of time. Capable of transcribing digitally recorded court hearings, proofreading, editing and preparing final transcripts. Able to perform clerical tasks, such as maintaining logbooks and weekly reports. Generate duplicate audio recordings of trials and court hearings for attorneys, government agencies and the public. Due to trials continuing beyond normal work hours there is occasionally the need for flexibility. On the job training available.

Education and Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and one year of college or vocational school education in office skills, computer operation or a closely related field. Additional relevant education may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Two years of related work experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
