Brooklyn Museum’s Digital Collections and Services internship focuses on researching rights status and identifying copyright holders for works in the collection. You will draft correspondence and license agreements, track progress in a database, and update rights information in TMS, while converting analog files to a digital database.
Intern seminars occur every other Tuesday from Feb 2, 2026. Paid internship for undergraduates and graduates, with a schedule of PT 12 hours/week.
The Digital Collections and Services department creates and preserves faithful and engaging photographs of Brooklyn Museum collections through the creation of born digital assets and the digitization of historical analog materials. In addition to image production, the department manages copyright status information for these works and administers licensing agreements with artists or their estates that permit the museum to reproduce works in the collection for museum-related activities.
The department seeks an intern to assist a long-term project focused on researching the rights status and identifying appropriate copyright holders for works in the Museum collection. Following an established research process, the intern will assess the rights status and clear copyright for Museum objects by consulting a variety of external resources. Additional responsibilities include drafting correspondence and license agreements, tracking progress in a database, and updating rights information in TMS – the Museum’s primary object information system. The intern will also convert analog files into a digital database, following established procedures and naming conventions.
In addition to working in Digital Collections and Services, the intern will be expected to attend intern seminars every other Tuesday starting February 2, 2026, from 9:30am -12:30pm.
