The Brooklyn Museum Libraries & Archives seek a detail-oriented intern to assist in reviewing, documenting, and organizing our publications, including bulletins and exhibition catalogues. You will work closely with the Directors and librarians, using Microsoft 365 and Primo catalog search, with potential backend Alma updates.
Eligibility targets undergrad/grad students or recent graduates age 21+, with seminars every other Tuesday starting Feb 2, 2026, 9:30am–12:30pm, and a stipend of $17/hour
The Brooklyn Museum Libraries & Archives support research on the history of the Museum and its collection, exhibitions, and programs. Materials date back to the Museum’s founding as the Brooklyn Apprentices’ Library in 1823. There are almost 200,000 volumes in the Libraries and over 2,000 linear feet of records in the Archives. The Brooklyn Museum Libraries are a partner in the New York Art Resources Consortium (NYARC) with the libraries of The Frick Collection and MoMA.
Working with the Director of Libraries & Archives as well as the Cataloging & Access Services Librarian, the Libraries’ intern will be helping accurately review, document, and physically organize our extensive collection of Brooklyn Museum publications, which includes bulletins, pamphlets, and exhibition catalogues from the early 20th century until today. You will be working primarily with Microsoft 365 and learning how to effectively search the library catalog (Primo). There may also be opportunities to assist with directly updating the catalog records in the backend of the library system (Alma).
In addition to working in Libraries & Archives, the intern will be expected to attend intern seminars every other Tuesday starting February 2, 2026, from 9:30am -12:30pm.
Compensation: $17/hour
Duration:February 2 – April 27, 2027
Schedule: PT (12 hours/week)
Deadline:November 8, 2026 (11:59 PM ET)
Paid internships are for undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and adults 21+ who aren’t enrolled in higher education. PhD candidates are not eligible.
Students who are detail-oriented and interested in learning about the work of libraries, archives, and/or book publishing in a museum setting are encouraged to apply.
