Broward College in sunny South Florida invites applications for a full-time Digital Collection Development Librarian on a 213-day yearly contract starting August 2026. The role focuses on digitization workflows, metadata and digital collections management, and strategies for born-digital materials.

The ideal candidate holds an MLS from an ALA-accredited program, demonstrates strong digital literacy, and can teach effectively, including evening or weekend hours as needed. Central Campus, Florida.

Qualifications

• Post-MLS academic library reference experience and digitization/collection development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Digitization workflows: design, implement, manage digitizing workflows for manuscripts, photographs, audio/video, rare books.

• Born-digital materials: develop strategies for capturing and preserving born-digital records.
• Demonstrate mastery of discipline and commitment to student success and college mission.

The college invites applications for a full-time contract eligible teaching position in (Collection Development Librarian). This position is a yearly (213-day) contract that begins in August 2026.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• MLS from an ALA accredited institution is required.
• Post-MLS academic library reference experience, demonstrated evidence of successful contribution towards digitization initiatives and collection development activities are preferred.
• The successful candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a commitment to library service and outreach in a diversely populated community.
• All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours.
• A high level of digital literacy and a commitment to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Digitization Workflows: Design, implement, and manage workflows for digitizing physical materials (manuscripts, photographs, audio/video, rare books) in accordance with national standards.
• Digital Collections Management: Responsible for ensuring discoverability and accessibility to digital collections including metadata workflows, creation and maintenance of accurate metadata records, overseeing access to the library’s digital resources and platforms, and guaranteeing interoperability of metadata between platforms.
• Born‑Digital Materials: Develop strategies for capturing, ingesting, and preserving born‑digital records (e.g., emails, website crawls, digital documents, social media archives).
• Demonstrate a mastery of their specific discipline; a deep commitment to the college mission of fostering student success, academic achievement, and persistence; technological competence; and the ability to use skills and strategies that engage students in ways that facilitate learning and prepare students for productive lives.
• Employ teaching methods to accommodate various levels of academic preparation and incorporate appropriate and engaging technology across different modalities of instruction to facilitate student learning.
• Facilitate the needs of different learners across programs by implementing responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging students.
• Have a willingness to examine and adapt one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support students.
• Engage in student consultation, course preparation, review of course outlines, and preparation of course syllabi.
• Provide prompt and constructive support to students through regular office hours and timely feedback on assessments and activities.
• Provide prompt feedback to student emails.
• Adhere to all reporting deadlines such as grade processing, enrollment verification, syllabus submission, and textbook adoption.
• Participate in service to the college and its community.
• Participate in curriculum development, the review and assessment of student learning outcomes, shared academic decision‑making, faculty organizations, and departmental course and program reviews.
• Engage in continued professional development, such as attending educational and disciplinary conferences.
