Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Lead Technical Consultant in the Illinois area to guide technical staff and bridge business and engineering teams. The role focuses on crafting user stories, prioritizing work, and delivering measurable outcomes in an agile environment.

The ideal candidate will mentor teams on REST APIs, JSON, and API testing practices, while mitigating risks and ensuring timely delivery of features.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
At least 2 years of experience working with REST APIs and JSON formats.
At least 2 years of experience utilizing API testing tools like Postman or Hoppscotch to construct HTTP requests, inspect headers, and debug endpoint payloads.

Responsibilities

Develops and maintains well-developed user stories from prioritized features. Ensures that each user story is aligned with product vision, has adequate acceptance criteria, and meets the definition of ready.
Makes decisions regarding functionality and priority of work efforts. Provides product and technical consultation to working teams in order to drive results. Signs off to accept each user story.
Solves problems critical to the success of project initiatives. Partners with teams to identify and remove roadblocks.
Participates in planning events, team demos, system demos, retrospectives, inspect and adapt workshops, and other ceremonies.
Develops and maintains project plans to drive results on new project initiatives. Ensures tasks, deliverables, and schedule commitments are met.
