Job summary

National Fire Protection Association seeks a Digital Archivist to join the Research team in Massachusetts. The role focuses on ingesting and managing digital assets in Preservica, ensuring consistency, and shaping metadata needs for preservation.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Preservica or similar archival DAMS.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with metadata schemas and standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ingest and manage assets in Preservica, with the goal to become an expert.
  • Audit and quality control of content to ensure uniformity and quality across the platform.
  • Define metadata needs for the collection and triage for digital preservation.
  • Assist customer support staff, committee members, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

Act at the Associate Level Preservica Manager, able to ingest and manage assets in the platform. The expectation is to become an Expert level in the future. Perform auditing and quality control of content described for Preservica to ensure uniformity and quality across the platform. Triage the collections for digital preservation and define metadata needs specific to the collection, as streamlined a feasible. Assist the customer support to staff, committee members, and the public.

Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science. Or enrolled in MLS with work experience.
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience in digital asset management systems
  • Experience with Preservica desired. High degree of experience with other archival DAMS considered.
  • Strong attention to detail
