Job summary

Georgetown University’s Law Library seeks a Digital Initiatives Librarian to lead digitization, ingest, and preservation of digital assets. This role develops metadata standards, oversees digitization projects, and supports the digital repository in collaboration with campus libraries.

The successful candidate will manage workflows, coordinate preservation activities, and work with staff, students, and other units to advance digital collections in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (or equivalent).
• 5–8 years of library experience.
• Experience with digitization workflows and large-scale scanning equipment.
• Experience with institutional repository systems (storing, organizing, securing, sharing digital assets).
• Experience managing multiple digitization projects.
• Experience with digital imaging and post-processing software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Bridge).
• Knowledge of Dublin Core, MARC, MODS, or METS metadata schemas.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure access to digital collections through the Law Library’s digital repository and help develop workflows for ingest.
• Develop metadata standards and workflows for digital collections.
• Oversee production-level digitization of Law Library materials and workflows for staff and students.
• Coordinate and plan digital preservation activities.
• Collaborate with Law Library staff to plan and prioritize digitization projects.
