Job summary

  • Collaborate with staff on training and documentation of equipment and programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Digital Collections Coordinator

The Geography & Map Division of the Library of Congress has a new job opening for a Digital Collections Coordinator, an exciting role that includes working with the Division's born-digital collections, including digital maps and geospatial data.

Duties
  • Coordinate and facilitate the integration of digital and traditional library services through implementation of digital preservation and access initiatives.
  • Individually and in collaboration with division, IT, and digital media experts, coordinate program components that include project workflows, new digital content policies, metadata and standards for content development, and new models for information access and delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on the division's digital content and is responsible for the division staying up to date on best practices in digital archival management and the use of approved digital inventory systems.
  • Liaise with the library professionals, information technology experts, Digital Services Directorate (DSD), industry and various working groups throughout the Library involved in digital technologies and automated systems as they relate to preservation, reference, and access.
  • Coordinate efforts assisting in planning the digital conversion of the division's analog collections and acquisition of digital content for specific digital projects relating to the Division’s multi-format cartographic materials.
  • Collaborate with the staff on training and documentation of equipment and programs utilized by Division staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.
  • The incumbent of this position will work a Flexitime work schedule.
  • This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.
  • Relocation expenses will not be authorized for the person(s) selected under this vacancy announcement.
