Job summary

Library of Congress in Washington, DC seeks a Librarian, Digital Collections Coordinator in the Geography & Map Division to lead digital preservation and access initiatives. You will coordinate program components with IT, digital media experts, and staff for metadata standards and new access models.

The role requires strong project leadership, experience with digital content policies, and ability to liaise with diverse teams to advance digital archives and content delivery.

Qualifications

• Progressively responsible experience and training in digital collections.
• Knowledge of workflow analysis and process improvement methodologies.
• Ability to lead complex digital collection projects from acquisition through long-term preservation.
• Ability to organize, plan, and track digital projects.
• Ability to use state-of-the-art technology for the conversion, description and preservation of digital assets.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate the integration of digital and traditional library services through implementation of digital preservation and access initiatives.
• Collaborate with division, IT, and digital media experts to coordinate program components including workflows, digital content policies, metadata standards, and access models.
• Serve as the primary point of contact on the division's digital content and ensure adherence to best practices in digital archival management and inventory systems.
• Liaise with library professionals, IT experts, DSD, industry groups, and other stakeholders involved in digital technologies and automated systems as they relate to preservation, reference, and access.
• Coordinate efforts assisting in planning the digital conversion of analog collections and acquisition of digital content for digital projects in cartographic materials.
• Collaborate with staff on training and documentation of equipment and programs used by Division staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
