Job summary

Georgetown University’s Law Library seeks a Digital Initiatives Librarian to lead digitization projects, create and manage digital assets, and set metadata standards for cohesive long‑term access. This hybrid role reports to the Head of Digital Initiatives and collaborates with library staff to advance the DigitalGeorgetown repository.

The role emphasizes large-scale digitization, metadata planning, and cross‑department collaboration to support scholarly access and preservation.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (or equivalent).
Five to eight (5-8) years of library experience.
Experience with digitization best practices and workflows and large‑scale scanning equipment.
Experience with institutional repository systems for digital assets.
Experience managing multiple digitization projects.
Knowledge of metadata schemas such as Dublin Core, MARC, MODS, METS.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Create, ingest, manage, and preserve digital assets for Georgetown Law Library.
Develop metadata standards and ingest workflows for digitization projects.
Oversee production-level digitization and staff workflows.
Plan and execute database maintenance and bulk import/export of digital objects.
Manage Georgetown Law Library's DigitalGeorgetown repository and liaise with campus libraries.
