Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking a Digital Accessibility Analyst Associate within ITS Accessibility. This role ensures digital content, software, and applications meet WCAG 2.1 standards and coordinates testing, reporting, and training to enhance accessibility across university systems.

You will work with customers, staff, vendors, and teams to implement best practices, develop documentation, and deliver exceptional service. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Accessibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, HCI, or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years in roles with confidentiality, customer service and independent work.
• Understanding of building accessible products for all users including those with disabilities.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 guidelines and WAI-ARIA specifications.
• Understanding of assistive technology user experience.
• Proficiency in accessibility testing tools and techniques.
• Experience teaching accessibility concepts to non-specialist audiences.
• Experience communicating progress using shared work management systems.

Job Summary

The Digital Accessibility Analyst associate is an associate position in the ITS Accessibility Team at the University of Michigan.

ITS Accessibility provides tools, knowledge, and support services that allow U-M to deliver digital accessibility and equitable access for people with disabilities. We are a team with expertise in accessibility standards, design best practices, assistive technology, accessibility testing, disability experience, and more. We work collaboratively and individually to implement solutions and manage services that meet the evolving needs of U-M, and to respond to user requests and issues related to accessibility.

The Digital Accessibility Analyst Associate engages with customers, staff, vendors, and teams to ensure all digital content, software, and applications comply with accessibility standards including WCAG 2.1. The Associate coordinates to test systems, deliver reports, resolve compliance issues, create documentation and training, and deliver exceptional customer service. The Associate contributes to services and works to improve the integration of accessible best practices within ITS and U-M.

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's degree in related fields (Information Science, Computer Science, HCI) or equivalent experience
• 1 or more years in a role demanding confidentiality, customer service, and independent work
• Understanding of building accessible products for all users, including those with disabilities
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 guidelines and WAI-ARIA specifications.
• Understanding of assistive technology user experience
• Proficiency in accessibility testing tools and techniques
• Experience teaching accessibility concepts to non-specialist audiences
• Experience completing multi-stage work and communicating progress using shared systems for work management

Desired Qualifications*

• Experience supporting users of assistive technology
• Experience communicating or collaborating with designers, product owners to improve accessibility
• Experience in higher education working context
