Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian to focus on Cardiac and Telemetry floors. You will assess nutrition, develop care plans, and provide MNT tailored to each patient, collaborating with the care team to improve outcomes.

The role emphasizes education, documentation, and participation in rounds and hospital committees, with a pathway to professional growth in a respected health system.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Dietetics or related field per AND requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or AND approved field (pre-2024 credentialed).
• Completion of accredited dietetic internship or coordinated program.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Deliver and adjust medical nutrition therapy based on patient needs and status.
• Monitor progress using labs, weight, and overall condition.
• Document care clearly in the electronic medical record.
• Provide tailored nutrition education to patients, families, and care teams.
• Develop and update educational materials to support diverse patient needs.
• Promote understanding of nutrition's role in recovery and wellness.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, care conferences, and hospital committees.
• Partner with providers to optimize treatment plans and ensure safe, effective care.

Qualifications

Education:

• Master's degree in Dietetics or a related field meeting Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) requirements (required for candidates credentialed after January 1, 2024)
• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or AND approved field accepted for those credentialed prior to 2024
• Completion of an accredited dietetic internship, coordinated program, or postgraduate program (required)

Experience:

• 1+ year of experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute care setting (preferred for entry-level candidates)
• 3+ years of acute care clinical experience (preferred for advanced-level candidates)

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) (required upon hire)
• Active state licensure/certification as a Dietitian (based on state of practice) (required upon hire)
• Completion of required state-specific mandatory reporter training (child and dependent adult abuse) within 90 days of hire
