Job summary

Hartford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Dietary Services Manager to oversee the dietary department, supervise staff, and ensure residents receive nutritious, diet-appropriate meals in accordance with physician orders and regulatory guidelines. The role requires a Bachelor's in Dietetics or related field, 1 year of dietitian experience in healthcare, and 1–2 years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge of MDS, care planning, and regs is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a Dietician in a healthcare or skilled nursing setting preferred.
• One to two years management/supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of MDS, care planning, and clinical documentation standards.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations governing dietary and nutritional services.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the dietary department and provides supervision to the dietary staff to ensure residents' nutritional needs are met according to standards of practice and regulatory guidelines.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Participates in regular conferences including department head meetings, Resident at Risk meetings and interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
• Oversees the purchase of food and supplies within budget and maintains sufficient supply for each meal.
• Provides guidance over diet planning, menu formulation, preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets.
• Ensures menus meet resident nutritional needs and physician orders.
• Interviews residents or family members to obtain diet history when necessary.
• Maintains records of residents' food likes and dislikes.
• Reviews resident diet information and care plans with staff to make appropriate changes.
• Creates and implements procedures for department equipment safety and operation.
• Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives.
