Summary
The Chillicothe VAMC Nutrition and Foods Service is recruiting a Clinical Dietitian. Serve as a Dietitian (Clinical) providing Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) within the Clinical Section of NFS, acting as the medical nutrition expert. Provide nutritional care coordination for Veterans in HBPC, collaborating with other healthcare providers, the Veteran, their caregiver, and the community.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments using the Nutritional Care Process (NCP), including physical examinations, to establish diagnoses and assess malnutrition risk.
  • Develop and monitor Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), evaluate outcomes, and modify plans to ensure positive patient results.
  • Calculate nutrient requirements, diet restrictions, and consider food and drug interactions to tailor diets for individual patients.
  • Document MNT in medical records using the ADIME format.
  • Record keeping should be accurate and independent.
  • Identify patients needing nutritional support, recommend support modes, and communicate with the healthcare team.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Assess educational needs and provide tailored nutrition education and counseling.
  • Utilize virtual care technologies to enhance access to care.
  • Maintain productivity standards and accurate documentation of clinical activities.
  • Lead initiatives, use data for quality improvement, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with Food Operations to enhance dining experiences and patient satisfaction, acting as a liaison between clinical units and food services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Part-time, Tuesday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Thursday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Qualifications: Must meet VA basic requirements, including being a registered dietitian (RDN) or RD, U.S. citizenship, English proficiency, and compliance with health and security checks. Must have relevant experience or education as specified for GS-09 and GS-11 levels, including knowledge of accreditation standards, virtual technology, and evidence-based practices.
