The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, completes an approved dietetic internship, and can communicate clearly with patients and staff. Travel to remote locations may be required.

Description:The Dietitian position exists to function within the Medical Nutrition Services department.This position serves as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide patient care that is integrated and compatible with the patient-focused medical goals.The Dietitian provides culturally appropriate care in accordance with strategic goals.Daily decisions on nutritional management regarding a wide range of clinical problems for both inpatients and outpatients are required.Complex problems may necessitate literature searches, consultation with medical staff, and collaboration with other health professionals to determine a management plan.Prioritization of time is essential within the constraints of food service, short-term admissions, and coordination of nutritional care with other members of the healthcare team.The Dietitian is responsible for maintaining and applying current scientific knowledge about food and nutrition.This knowledge is applied to individuals and groups in states of health and disease to promote optimal health outcomes.The Dietitian works closely with the multidisciplinary ambulatory healthcare team.This includes providing individual or group nutrition screening, assessment, diagnosis, education, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation using the Nutrition Care Process for ambulatory patients.Nutrition care provided is documented using established departmental protocols.For hospitalized patients, nutrition screening, assessment, diagnosis, education, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation are conducted across all levels of care and age.The Dietitian works closely with Client Nutrition Services staff to clarify or communicate patient diet orders and food preferences.The Dietitian serves as a member of the Diabetes Team and may assist with teaching related programs.Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is essential.Travel to remote locations may be required, involving transportation by jet, small aircraft, and ferry.
