Job description

Job Overview:

The candidate will be required to work at two outpatient facilities. The primary location is in Hamilton, and the secondary location will be in East Brunswick. As a member of the healthcare team, the individual is responsible for the nutritional care of assigned pediatric populations, with assistance from clinical orienters and supervision. Responsibilities include nutrition assessment, implementation of nutritional care plans, nutrition education, and assisting with operational functions of the Clinical Nutrition Department.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university
• Registered dietitian (RD) or eligible (RDE) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
• If RDE, must become RD within six months of hire
• Valid NJ driver's license in good standing
• AHA BLS Provider Certification
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with others

Certifications and Licenses:

• Registered dietitian (RD) or eligible (RDE) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
• If RDE, must become RD within six months of hire
• Valid NJ driver's license in good standing
• AHA BLS Provider Certification

Scheduling Requirements:

• 16 hours/week

Essential Functions:

• Utilizes understanding of diagnoses and medical history to provide nutritional care for assigned patients
• Includes evaluation of nutritional status, creation, implementation, monitoring, and revision of care plans, and nutrition education
• Completes nutritional assessments thoroughly and timely
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff in oral and written formats
• Participates in nutritional in-services and community education programs
• Creates and evaluates educational materials for nutrition education and professional resources
• Coordinates nutritional care with various departments
• Participates in policy and procedure development and revision
• Participates in routine departmental duties and performance improvement activities
• May guide Dietetic Technicians and mentor students/interns
• Meets minimum annual volume expectations
