Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a caregiver with a nutrition-focused background to provide clinical nutrition support on the Main Campus. You will work under a registered dietitian to implement nutrition care plans and maintain documentation across patient meals and diet orders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Nutrition or related field or Associate’s in Dietetic Technology is required.
• Must obtain Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) within 6 months of hire.
• On-the-job training includes rotations across patient care areas and classroom work.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using medical nutrition therapy for moderate/low-risk populations under a registered dietitian.
• Implement and communicate nutrition care plans with the healthcare team.
• Maintain documentation, follow-up systems, and diet/order entry records.
• Serve as liaison between food service staff and clinical/dietitian teams.
• Ensure patient meals comply with prescribed diets and communicate changes.
• Manage menu entry and update diet/nourishment data.
• Support dietetic internship programs as a preceptor.
• Track productivity and complete required reports.
• Participate in rounds, conferences, and research; use clinical dietetic software for patient care.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and audit nutrition registry data.

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am to 4:30pm or 7:30am to 4:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide patient care using medical nutrition therapy for moderate/low-risk populations under a registered dietitian.
• Implement and communicate nutrition care plans with the healthcare team.
• Maintain documentation, follow-up systems, and diet/order entry records.
• Serve as a liaison between food service staff and clinical/dietitian teams.
• Ensure patient meals comply with prescribed diets; communicates needed diet changes.
• Manage menu entry and processes diet/nourishment updates.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives, committees, and projects.
• Support dietetic internship programs as a preceptor.
• Track productivity and completes required reports.
• Participate in professional development, rounds, conferences, and research.
• Use clinical and dietetic software to support patient care and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Maintain, update, and audit department systems and nutrition registry data.
• Perform nutrition analysis, data coding, validation checks, and error correction.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nutrition or related field
• OR Associate's Degree in Dietetic Technology
• Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) required within 6 months of hire
• After selection and placement in the job, minimum three month's on-the-job training required, including classroom work, assignments, various shifts and rotation to various patient care areas
• Maintains ongoing continuing education in nutrition-related practice areas
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in the use of electronic communication tools
• Effectively follows direction and works independently with minimal supervision in an interdisciplinary environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills; collaborates effectively, communicates issues clearly, and resolves conflicts in a timely manner

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to a large number of patients throughout the hospital and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer entry.
• Must have physical ability to measure and weigh patients.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $16.47

Maximum hourly: $23.61
