Long Beach Post Acute is seeking a Full‑time Dietary Services Supervisor (DSS) to oversee the dietary department, ensure meals meet facility standards, and maintain safe, quality food service for residents in Long Beach.

Full Job Description

Long Beach Post Acute is looking to hire a Full‑time Dietary Services Supervisor (DSS).

The Dietary Manager supervises the operations of the Dietary Department, ensuring that costs are within budget, the quality of meals meets the facility standards, and ensuring all facility dietary and food handling standards are met. Assists in providing a clean, safe, dignified, happy and healthy environment for residents by performing the duties as described below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complies with the facility’s attendance policy requiring regular, reliable, and punctual attendance

• Supervises of the operation of the food service department.

• Responsible for knowing, understanding, and conveying to other dietary staff personnel the Federal and State rules and regulations regarding nursing home dietary requirements and is responsible for their enforcement within the scope of the Dietary Department.

• Inspects and evaluates the department regularly to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.

• Completes initial interviews with each resident to determine their food preferences and special needs and completes quarterly updates.

• Updates and maintains resident profile cards and completes quarterly updates.

• Processes new diet orders and diet changes when received from nursing services and keeps diet cards updated. Performs daily meal rounds.

• Prepares and posts menus with menu changes noted; keeps copies of menus on file quarterly.

• Supervises, plans, schedules and co-ordinates the work of the food service employees.

• Plans staff and special function menus as directed by the Administrator.

• Maintains the procurement and storage of all food and supplies.

• Responsible for timely completion of initial screening, quarterly reviews, care plans, MDS-section K, IDT, weight management notes, and all RD follow-up.

• Participates in the care plan/IDT meetings.

• Participates in QA meetings and passes annual CQI.

• Plans and coordinates standards and procedures of food storage, preparation, and service; equipment and department sanitation; and employee safety.

• Inspects and evaluates the department regularly to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, resolving deficiencies as identified.

• Works with Dietary Consultant to achieve quality food service.
