Job summary

Paradigm Healthcare in Wharton, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Dietary Manager to lead the facility's dietary team in a per diem capacity. The role emphasizes compassionate leadership in a skilled nursing setting, overseeing menus, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or GED, maintain an active dietary management license, and bring a minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a dietary department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Active license as a Certified Dietary Manager or Certified Food Service Manager.
• Minimum three years’ supervisory experience in a dietary department in a hospital, nursing facility, or other medical facility preferred.
• Knowledge of dietary practices and the laws, regulations and guidelines governing dietary functions in nursing facilities.

Responsibilities

• Stock ingredients and monitor inventory for food, beverage, and supplies.
• Adhere to budget for supplies, food, and labor.
• Develop the baseline care plan within 48 hours of admission.
• Document progress reports per MDS guidelines.
• Attend Medicare/Skilled care plan meetings for special diets.
• Place necessary food orders with the cook for patients with special dietary needs.
• Participate in menu planning.
• Oversee dietary staff to ensure cleansing, cooking, and service align with policies and procedures.
• Ensure food prep areas, kitchen, dishes, and equipment are cleaned appropriately.
• Ensure that food is cooked and served per orders or diet instructions.
• Follow OSHA and safety regulations for food service sanitation and applicable nursing home regulations.
• Maintain dietary policies and procedures per federal, state, and local requirements.
• Ensure all employees and the facility have necessary dietary licensure.
• Administer disciplinary actions fairly per policy.
• Coordinate terminations with HR Director/Administrator as needed.
• Communicate effectively with residents, visitors, families, staff, and supervisors.

Job Details: Job Location: Paradigm at the Creek - Wharton, TX 77488, Position Type: Per Diem, Job Shift: Day, We are a skilled nursing facility seeking a dedicated, compassionate leader to join the Paradigm Healthcare team as Dietary Manager!

Job Duties

• Stock ingredients and monitor, food, beverage, and equipment/supplies inventory as directed
• Adhere to budget for supplies, food, and labor as directed
• Work with the team to develop the baseline care plan within 48 hours of admission
• Document progress report(s) at required intervals as stated in MDS guidelines
• Attend skilled care plan/Medicare meetings with members, families, and care team when it involves a special diet or nutritional concern
• Place necessary food orders with the cook for patients that have special dietary needs
• Participate in menu planning
• Oversee dietary staff to ensure that cleaning, cooking, and service is consistent with facility’s policies and procedures
• Ensure that food preparation areas, kitchen, dishes, and equipment are cleaned appropriately
• Ensure that food is cooked and served to residents consistent with orders or diet instructions
• Follow OSHA and safety regulations for food service sanitation, applicable regulations for nursing homes, and the facility’s policies and procedures
• Maintain dietary policies and procedures consistent with applicable federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and laws
• Ensure all employees and facility have necessary licensure for dietary, cooking, and food services
• Ensure that departmental disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, or marital status
• Terminate employment of personnel when necessary, documenting and coordinating such actions with the HR Director and/or Administrator in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures
• Communicate and interact effectively with residents, visitors, families, staff, and supervisors
