Position Summary
The Dietary Manager supervises the operation of Dietary Services within the facility.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensed or certified as a nutrition professional by the state.
- CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) or CFM (Certified Food Manager).
Experience
- At least two years in Dietary operations, including one in a long-term care setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Train, direct, and guide dietary staff.
- Participate in hiring, disciplining, and evaluating staff.
- Schedule and supervise equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Maintain food inventory and ensure adequate stock.
- Participate in the facility’s Performance Improvement Program.
- Order supplies, check shipments, and conduct inventories.
- Monitor supply usage for efficiency.
- Prepare work schedules and ensure adequate staffing.
- Assist in cost planning and monitoring.
- Complete dietary documentation, patient histories, and food preferences.
- Collaborate with Nursing staff to meet dietary needs.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
Effective leadership, communication, infection control knowledge, and operation of commercial food service equipment.
