Position summary
The Dietary Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. The Dietary Manager manages meal preparation and oversees the operations of the Dining Services Department, including staffing, food ordering and inventory, menu planning, food delivery, and sanitation, in accordance with health department regulations. The Director ensures client and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective management that exceeds expectations. Assists in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for supervising, assigning duties, and directing all food service department employees with full accountability for dining services.
Ensure equipment maintenance and that work areas are clean, safe, and organized. Adhere to infection control, food safety, chemical handling, fire safety, and sanitation procedures, addressing noncompliance promptly.
Maintain food costs within budgetary constraints and ensure strict inventory control.
Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Conduct interviews, make hiring recommendations, and orient new staff.
Create and adjust staff schedules using independent judgment, considering employee requests for time off or schedule modifications.
Track attendance and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
Communicate and enforce policies on employee conduct, safety, sanitation, and other HR policies, and recommend corrective actions.
Evaluate employee performance and recommend employment adjustments as needed.
Complete quarterly dietary QA audits.
Plan community and individual resident menus in coordination with primary care providers, medical staff, and Affinity staff. Organize special events as needed.
Ensure meals are prepared according to menu and recipes, presented attractively, nutritious, and appetizing. Provide snacks for residents with dietary restrictions. Maintain proper storage, defrosting, and preparation of food following safety procedures.
Ensure excellent customer service from all employees to residents and visitors.
Perform duties courteously and professionally, prioritizing resident safety and satisfaction.
Greet visitors warmly, including residents' families, prospective residents, referral sources, vendors, and regulators.
Answer phones professionally, adhering to community standards.
Ensure compliance with residents' rights regulations.
Ensure all staff attend required training and provide in-service training as needed.
Attend training sessions as directed.
